I'll sing no more now, 'til I get a drink
Belfast day 2. Day 1 wasn't too much fun--let's leave it there.
Today the conference proper started. A good tour of Queens University and a talk on Northern Irish history. Nationalist skew couched in conciliatory language, but a nice fella. Then the opening session with 3 polite speeches and one man with enough Irish charm to fill the ballroom: Seámus Heaney got nothing on this fella. Then a couple of interesting paper sessions.
This evening was a so-so buffet dinner, followed by a seísun (traditional Irish music). And a technologically flawed by lovely chat with
querrelle. I missed 40 minutes of the party and was afraid I'd select an already sun song...so I didn't sing. Still had fun though.
Paper tomorrow morning.
