. . . il faut que je voie mon chum. Oh, he's upstairs in his office. Never mind.

Things continue to move at a breakneck pace here in the antipodean zone. Today I couriered off my absentee ballot for the upcoming Canadian Federal election. We have a rather complicated system in Canada: ballots are marked by hand, in pencil with a clear mark next to the name of the candidate of your choice in your Federal riding (district). Or, in my case, I wrote the last name and first initial of my candidate of choice. Results are counted by handed, very quickly and about 90% of the ridings report their votes within a couple of hours of the polls closing. Recounts and disputes of that nature are minimized by having representatives of all registered parties with a canddiate in that riding allowed to act as scrutineers, who can question any unclearly marked ballots--and the scrutineers almost always arrive at a quick consensus.

For the record I voted socialist dyke this year: Libby Davies of the New Democratic Party.

In other news, we've picked a date and (tentative but pretty firm) venue for our wedding. Details to follow. By Oirish Catlick standards it'll be a smallish affair (<50), but lovely. As tradition dictates I've selected a hideously ugly, uncomfortable and expensive fabric for the bridesmaid's dresses. Which, in our case, will be chaps. If you've done a lot of acid in your past, you might decline our invite: we accept no responsibility for drug flashbacks.
