Two themes this weekend: hot and cardio

Friday querrelle and I finally sampled one of the dozens of India restos in our neighbourhood. A good meal. Then I had to rock up for my turn on the desk for Bears Night. Sold a few memberships, several Bear Essentials IX registration packs, chatted with folks, became infused with tobacco smoke, got dehydrated (didn't get a chance to get a drink before setting up, and couldn't leave the kit thereafter. If I've not plugged the event previously, do come down for Bear Essentials. We take the already faboo Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and add a bunch of furry events. Highlights include the Underbear dance party (how can anyone get all intense when we're in our skivvies?), Pool party (200 furry men in a wave pool and giant hot tub on a Friday night), and the Harbour Cruise (bears ahoy!).

Saturday was beach day. Nothing gets jawnbc centred like salt water, so I was there for noonish, replete with iPod, book, kick fins (for bodysurfing) and other sundries. The lovely John and Michael came down, as did my pal Pól (pronounced Paul, as gaelige)--and querrelle! So there was lovely gabbing, people to play with, lots of men to perve. All things considered I prefer North Bondi amonst Sydney's beaches: very gay, lots of eye candy, good waves, easy to get to. And quite likely to run into folks I know. After the beach, we hit the fish monger and querrelle made a lovely dinner. Then hawt hawt monkey luvvin', followed by a DVD. "My Life Without Me" is a Canadian film about a 23 year-old woman who finds out she's dying--rapidly--of cancer. I rented it because of Sarah Polley (a great actress, and a Canuck btw), and it's a lovely, low-key piece of cinema verité. And Deborah Harry is great as her Mum. It's heavy going, but very good.

Sunday was bushwalking day (in my country, hiking). querrelle organized a great day for Club members and their ilk. We trained to Cronulla, then caught a ferry to Bundeena and the Royal National Park. From there we hiked about 5k to Bob Big Marley and Ziggy Little Marley beaches. The Big'n's too dangerous to swim in (rips/undertows galore), but the wee one was grand. After about 90 minutes of picnicking, swimming and R-n-R, we headed back. Ended up being a long (11 hour) day, but 22 of us went--a great turnout!

So today I'm all buff an' shit. Word! And tender in places (skin, foot, ankle). But it was a great weekend.

On another, wholly unrelated note, I'm currently obsessed with iTunes album art. Turns out the new iPod Photo displays the artwork whilst spinning your tunes. So last night I updated my Céline Dion catalogue, which I had to do manually (because it is Céline, pas Celine). Only like 500 albums to go . . .

Besides The French Album and Dion Chante Plamandon, what other French recordings did she make?

Oh gosh. Most recent is «1 Fille, 4 Types», a good mix of pop-rock. Also «S'il suffisait d'aimer» which is OK, not great (a great track though: On ne change pas); «Incognito» when she was 18--very 80s pop, with some sauch lyrics (a song called Lolita); the best of her teen hits are found on «Les Chansons en or», or «Amour for you».

I'd skip «suffisait», the rest are all worthwile in some form. If the Amazon prices seem high, try archambeault.ca, a Québec music store.

J'aime beacoup le disque "Dion Chante Plamandon". Il y a deux chansons que j'ai sues déjà. Le monde est stone chante a Cyndi Lauper et Je t'aime encore chante a Céline. :) Mais, Cyndi chante en l'anglais :)

It your album is on the iTunes store, you can simply drag n'drop the cover art from the store into the art window. It should load into your ipod during the next sync. Give that a try!

I think work should buy one for you. It stores digital images that can be played on a TV. And is also an external hard drive. At least you should be able to write it off for tax purposes.

My neighbor edited My Life Without Me. So I'm connected to it cuz I talk to her...that is when she LOOKS at me. I've sussed her out to be one of those "man hating" lesbians, although she and her eponymously named partner (does that make sense? They're Lisa and Lisa...both film editors too) love the other (rich) fags in the hood, and unless I'm with one of them, all I'll get from either of them is a terse "hi" and they'll call their dog over so she won't play with mine. Too wierd. Makes me think I must look like a real creep! What do you think Jawn? Totally creepy? Don't worry you can tell me. ;-)

There is also the lesbian fear dynamic. If a lesbian feels that you might be at all uncomfy, or intimidated by lesbians, they react with disdain. Instead be all "hey how's it going Lisas?" and be impervious. You'll be snacking on tofu wieners in no time.

However your dawg is part of the patriarchy, so to get around that you'd have to put the poor pup down. Which I don't think is worth it.
