I'm waiting up to watching Indian Idol. Last night I wanked for the first time in nearly a week. I needed a break from Indian food so I ordered room service tonight--and what was delivered sure looked, smelled, and tasted like Indian food to me.

I must still be in India.

Nothing today worth reporting. 2 more full days, then an early morning flight to Mumbai, a day to wander and then a red-eye home to muh bébé.

The same-sex marriage legislation was introduced today--it's by no means a done deal. Mes chers/es canadiens/nnes, il faut que vous écriviez votre député/e--tout de suite. NDP, Liberal, Conservative, Bloc, Chuck Cadman--whomever. if we lose this one, we'll need court precedents in the remaining provinces (AB, NB, PEI) and territories (NVT, NWT) to give all Canadians equal access to equal marriage. We'll win in the long run, but let's exert ourselves a bit here, and use the resources we retain for other battles--like trans/gender equality.

Tomorrow I shall get up early, and find a stapler. Which, in a society where one is illiterate (can't read/decipher Hindi or Marathi), is surprisingly difficult to sort out.

Wrote my député last week. No response yet although she is a pretty staunch Liberal party line tow'er. A good friend of mine has written some well researched thoughts on the issue in Canada on his blog.

Have they been feeding you anything that doesn't appear in standard Indian restaurant menus? I hear actual Indian food is a lot more interesting than what we see here.

I've been sticking to thalis for the most part--and at least half the dishes aren't standard Hongcouver fare. Most places offer North Indian and South Indian options, which are quite different. And the sweets--gawd if I liked sweet stuff I'd be in heaven: dozens of choices in every resto.

I've eschewed the non-veg, since they tend to use all sorts of chicken parts. And I'm a white meat princess, when it comes to chicken.
