Who's coming to Sydney's Gay Mardi Gras this year?

Hi folks!

Are you coming to Mardi Gras this year? If so, and if you want to attend the Big Party, if you order your tickets online by end of business today you’ll save 30-40$. Go to Ticketek’s website and search for “Mardi Gras”. If you’re outside Australia, select the pick-up at Ticketek delivery option.

It’s a great party, even for those who aren’t big on dancing or into the “circuit” scene. Literally 20k folks--men, women, gay,bi, str8, queer, trans, you name it--and the vibe is pretty great. 3 indoor venues, a couple of outdoor ones, a huge chill space. Take a nap after the parade for a couple of hours and show up after midnight. This year’s entertainment includes Tina Arena, Nikki French and one act to be named later. Rumours abound that it’s Cher (she’s touring Oz at the same time).

For the bearzes, our Harbour City Bears Bear Essentials offers a week of fun stuff in the run-up to the Parade and Party. There’s a Harbour Cruise, an UnderBear party, a Pool party (on Friday night!), and a pre-parade picnic. We welcome all who want to march with our group--you don’t have to be a member of our club.

And we’ve made an optional group booking for the Harbour Bridge Climb--which querrelle, toneyvr and I did in December. It was totally worth it!

Yayyyy for Mardi Gras - I'll be there :) The Big Party is the most amazing thing I've ever seen, party-wise.
I got some aussie faggot to get my ticket for me <g>

Looking forward to the Harbour Cruise, it was a great idea to sell separate tickets to all these events, I got a couple of tickets for my Sydney hosts as a small thank you for their hospitality.

But if you've not been, the Pool Party Friday night is fantastic. It's indoors, just off Hyde park. We get the whole splash/wave pool and mega-hot tub for the evening. Since Saturday is so full-on for everyone (parade, party), it's great to float and splash a couple of hours away before hitting Oxford St for Mardi Gras Eve.

You must, however, wear a swimsuit. I wore mine around my neck.

I seem to recall having fun at the Underbear party; it was packed, loud, sweaty and fantastic.

I'll be there! We're doing the bridge climb with the bears on Wednesday I think it is.

We're already set for party tickets and fabulous high-rise apartment. Now I just need to figure out what all I'm going to do to keep busy for a week.

We're spending Feb 20th-26th up at Binna Burra/Brisbane, doing touristy site-seeing.

We arrive in Sydney the evening of Sat, Feb 26th. Most of the week is the HCBears events and random amusements. Lots of free time.

Sunday March 6th, we drag our zombie corpses to the airport for the afternoon flight back.
