You ignorant slut.

Friday was “work @ home” day, and also the day I went for my day as lab rat. Since I ask folks to participate in research I conduct, I put up with a few pricks each year in the name of HIV research. My risk of seroconversion is virtually zero so the blood bit’s annoying; the tough part is the 50 minute administered survey, which catalogues deed and intention. Oh and also a throat and booty schmear. I’l collect the results in a fortnight, at the city’s sluuuut Sexual Health Clinic. As a guest worker, I can pay taxes but not access Medicare--because that makes so much more sense: save $400 a year per person, but have them spread around whatever ails them--since we know that when folks have to pay for health care they wait to seek it. Eejits.

Friday night I can’t remember. Dain bramage.

Saturday I rolled out of bed, had a lovely bachelor’s brekkie (potato chips and Coke Classic™), then headed to Bondi in search of waves. And there sure were: nice 1.5m rollers! Since Aussies seem to have a visceral aversion to the beach after 01 March, the water was full of tourists (get outta da way!) and surf enthusiasts. I got two great sets of long, powerful rides, then decamped on the beach with my iPod. Did I mention I’ve loaded all this year’s Eurovision songs on already, including the withdrawn Lebanese song? Because I have, and I was wiggling and writhing on my binkie. More like a sugared-up 5 year-old, not a testerone-laden 35 year-old. I ain’t neither, unh. Saturday night we had a quiet one, then watched a DVD about Francis Bacon. I wasn’t loving it, then got into a bit, and overall thought it was good.

Sunday Marko and Max and I had brunch in Darlinghurst, then Marko and I toddled down to the Korean baths for my belated birfday prezzie. Mark hadn’t been (he normally does a femi-spa/salon). 2 hours later we were exfoliated and limber, thanks to long soaks in the Ginseng bath, Korean AND shiatsu massage, an ankles-to-neck body scrub (why no feet? why no head?), and a yoghurt and honey facial. All done by men. I don’t like masseuses--not haaaard enough. Afterwards I actually got a few hours’ work done (penance for Friday) before joining Marko and Max @ the Shift. Hadn’t been in ages, was quiet. But good company.

Oh, and Roseanne Barr showed up @ the Shift. Marko and I recognized her at the exact same moment. Marko stalked, I followed, she seemed bemused. She was watching the drag show. I heart Roseanne, she’s funny and fucking brilliant and deserved the Feminst Award for the 2nd Millenium for the last season on her sitcom. A true visionary and revolutionary.

I do love the bachelor brekkie!
I am a huge fan of Francis Bacon. I just wrote a critical essay of a painting of his called "Blood on the Floor." It is in a private collection in Melbourne. I got to see it in 98 or 99 when it was hanging in the Legion of Honor in SF. Lovely and so fugged up.
Two things.
If you'd like to read the essay, gimme yr email address.
I would like to know the name of the Bacon DVD so I too can watch it.(he's one of my fave freaks!)

The DVD was 'Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon (1998)' starring Derek Jacobi (as Bacon) and Daniel Craig (as George Dyer). It recounts the events between Bacon and Dyer first meeting and Dyer's eventual suicide in Paris during Bacon's opening at Le Grand Palais. The film-makers were not able to obtain permission to use any of Bacon's images in the film but incorporated some fascinating, tantalising, sometimes disturbing (and controversial) visual speculation as to how Bacon's images might have arisen.

I was lucky enough to see an extraordinary retrospective of Bacon's work at the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague a few years ago. It included virtually all of his important works and had to be underwritten by the Dutch government as it was uninsurable.

I'd be very interested to read your essay.

Wow

Do you really like Eurovision songs?

You should get the one that got the 2nd in the spanish final: "Eres un enfermo (del cybersexo)" by las Supremas de Móstoles.

The lyrics say something like

"Eres un enfermo del cybersexo
Me pones los cuernos
Uve, doble uve tías buenas punto com"

"You're a sick of cybersex
You have sex with others
U doble U chicks dot com"

It was sung by 3 typical spanish housewives!

I have the mp3 if you don't bother looking for it.

BTW do you celebrate the Eurovision party? I usually gather with my friends and we prepare the "PARTY". Everybody has to bring something from every country in the contest (Macedonia gets always a Fruit Salad since the names are the same in spanish, for both the dish and the country but try to get something from Ukrania). Then you can download charts and voting stuff from internet. The one who gets closer to the winner wins.
