I thought sleeping on the couch in my old apartment--while someone else sleeps in my bed in my bedroom--would feel strange.
Not really....so far
Flights (SYD-SFO and SFO-YVR) were largely uneventful, thanks to sleeping tablets and my iPod. Speaking of which my new iPod should arrive Tuesday morning--woo hoo! But I digress...got through Canada Customs super-fast (thanks SARS and killing the Asian travel market), and was on the kerb about 10 minutes after--including waiting for checked luggage. Home for tea and a lovely meal cooked by Noel & Jocelyne, our pals downstairs. We 4 had a lovely evening of eating, gabbing and laughing; all agreed it's as if I've never left, even after 5 months.
So good to be here!
Also waiting for me was a pile of mail. 5 months of Macleans, the (English) Canadian news magazine, has been wittled down to 3 issues. I'll read the whole Geist, thanks very much (oooh Alberto Manguel). And Convergence. Yummy.
A few weeks back I orded some stuff online that was unavailable in Oz, most of which (the new iPod being the exception) was in same said pile. A 2-CD "best of" Eurovision collection, through to 1988 (the year Céline triumphed!), and 2 2-CD collections from Mylène Farmer. And a splitter that allows 2 people to listen to the same iPod simulteanously.
This arvo--uh, um, afternoon.sorry--I'll visit my fav Hongcouver café Delany's, to read and see who's out and about. A lovely cool spring day
