It's been a good trip.

I was tardy in getting ready whilst still in Vancouver. The bag was zipped and I was dressed at 09h00, the agreed-upon departure hour (Noel drove me). We got to YVR at 09h30, plenty of time for me to carry-on only and go to Canada Customs to register the new iBook.

The flight, it turns out, was delayed because of air traffic issues at SFO. What's a bear to do? Cinnabon and a mocha, and buy some wireless 'net time. Actually to get some work done, which was a very good thing. On the flight I was seated next to an UM (unaccompanied minor), a 12ish girl who was gonna visit aunty in SF. She was very chatty, in that edge-of-pubescent-purgatory way: alternately tentative, brassy and distracted. But very nice, and she coveted my iPod, which was nice of her. Arrived at SFO, off the plane, AirTrain to BART to Civic Centre to MUNI to Castro--didja ever notice that the MUNI trains that go to Castro are KLM, as in Royal Dutch Airlines? Whose hub is Amsterdam, arguably Europes (queer) equivalent to SF? Quel coincidence ça.

At Starbears, my host Bill arrived an hour after me, and we repaired chez lui, chatted with his amiable roomie Tim, and eventually went to Blue for a foofish dinner (hoidy toidy meatloaf). I glanced across the room and saw what I thought was a familiar face--and it was. Mick and I attended college together. We travelled in intersecting social circles, and knew one another was queer, but we had different tacks to the issue. He wanted to connect and nurture a friendship: I preferred to keep my queer life and my social life separate. Sadly, I shunned him--in hindsight we could have been a good influence on one another. Or not. We exchanged info and I'll give him a call before I go. Oh and Mick has the same amount of hair still, bastard.

The rest of the night was a quiet one, and I slept pretty well on the couch. Woo hoo.

Today Bill dragged me to a computer show--he wanted parts and parts for his PCs. Some great prices, but I'm wary of buying something as important as a computer component from what is essentially a flea market. I wanted to engage in some retail therapy myself, so Bill dropped me downtown and I went to CompUSA and bought:
+S-video and video out adapter for the iBook
+DVD-Rs
+CD-Rs
Saving significant bucks. Woo hoo!

Then it was off to the Castro and coffee with the charming, clever and dead sexy [livejournal.com profile] mattblakk, with special guest star Blake. Both cute as buttons. We chatted about lots, it was really nice to connect in person. Home in time for an ealier-than-usual chat with [livejournal.com profile] querrelle. Noice. Then dinner with [livejournal.com profile] darkphuque, [livejournal.com profile] bigredpaul, [livejournal.com profile] chriskomater, [livejournal.com profile] sinnabor and my pal Ted from Seattle. Then to the bear hug, where I saw [livejournal.com profile] arkanjil.

It's now 02h00, I've been home almost an hour and now it's time for bed!
