So I got a Bluetooth-enabled iBook several months ago. Then I got a Bluetooth mobile (Sony Ericsson T68i), and now I've got a Bluetooth PalmOne Zire 72.

In setting up the Palm I discovered that Mac OS X.2 has built-in Address Book/Bluetooth linking. In other words, once I paired the iBook and my mobile, I could click on an address in my Address book and my mobile would dial it--courtesy of Bluetooth.

At the same moment an SMS came in on my phone--and appeared on-screen as a pop-up window. I could reply to it using my keyboard (rather than the mobile's push-push-push). Then I discovered I could right-click on any mobile number in my Address book and send an SMS directly--again via the mobile phone.

At work they made me get a Wintel laptop (a Toshiba Tecra). I added a Bluetooth doggle, it's up and running but there's no internal mechanism for SMS like on the Mac. Oh, there is a free app from Microsoft to send SMS--but it doesn't support USB Bluetooth doggles, and it won't receive messages.

If Apple can do, it can't be that hard.

Jaysus, nuttin to post for days, and then it comes in spurts (it hurts)

We just received word our application to rent a new apartment closer to Life, the Universe and Everything has been approved. Call us steretypical, but [livejournal.com profile] querrelle and I are moving!

Place: Moore Park Gardens
When: 2-3 weeks

We'll be on the border of Surry Hills and Redfern, about a 15 minute walk to Oxford Street, and a 10 minute drive (in traffic) to wor--and no more bridges to cross neither. 2 bedroom, large front and back balconies, split level, gas cooking, all mod cons.

His and his bathrooms! All we need to suss out is where to hang the alien birthing chair!
