Canada is getting closer
Jul. 12th, 2005 11:34 amHave I mentioned how much I love my Canadian mobile carrier, Fido? When they first launched in Canada
toneyvr scored a free ride on their zeppelin, thanks to his corporate shivery. It took a few years before either of us found out about Fido and their flexible approach to mobile services. Don't want a contract? Fine. Got a lot of friends on Fido's network? For $5 more a month it's free to call and SMS. Want a new phone, it's free with a 2 year contract, or you pay for it...but "good" customers get it usually for about half the price listed on Fido website.
Anyway I tried to order
querrelle's new mobile service via the web, but it would only take an order in his name if we used his credit card and it was a Canajun credit card. D'oh! Today I rang Fido and they said "we'll put it in your name; just ring when you get here and he has a SIN and we'll switch it to his name, no problem." We even worked out an optimal day for it to be shipped to Tone's place (and to Tone, so he can sign for it). And then the fella says "let's pick him a good number" and we get him a number almost identical to mine--1 digit off! I'm 3069, Max is 3068.
That's my kind of kapitalism! Consumers of the world unite!
