jawnbcAmong the various tasks to complete in the next three weeks is a proper good-bye/thank you for our Sydney peeps. So we’ve organized a wee fête for the 13 August. We’ll cater it for nibblies and provide a decent supply of libatiions, but it will be a no frills event. Biensûr.
But if you ever want to determine who among your acquaintances are the shallow, still wrapped by the scene kweens, invite them to a gathering of some significance on a Friday or Saturday night. They’re usualy the ones who don’t RSVP (or even respond), or who say “as of right now that night’s clear.” A ghey way of saying if I get a better offer I’m taking it. Tacky, but what better punishment for the shallow and vapid than to be surrounded by shallowness and vapidity? Lameness is like water: it seeks its own level. Me? Bitter? I’m not bitter...
Yesterday was vague, but I anticipated that. Today I got going on making stuff happen. We’ll pick our moving company this week and do the ruthless pack/purge dry run; ideally they’ll come around the 10th, leaving several days’ wiggle room if needed. I am quite able to deal with necessary stress, but am loathe to create it needlessly. Anything we’re shipping we don’t need in a pared-down life.
