I don;t know what Eurovision is nor do I know any of the songs on that list.

But anyone who writes a song with the title "Fly on the Wings of Love" should be tortured until dead.

Oh come on now, don't get all elitist. Haven't you heard of schlager? And of course you've heard of Waterloo by ABBA!

Everyone in the world except the average American knows about Eurovision. It was camp before there was camp. Gimmicks. Schlamozzels. And some pretty decent songs from time to time (though the best song pretty much never wins).

Google "what is eurovision"...the internet is your friend.

do search on some, uh, you know, file sharing thingie for "every way that I can" by sertab. hybrid europop/turkish/hip hop thingie. won in 2003. But takes a few listens for it to make sense.

Bear in mind it's a live contest, and the performance is a big part of it. In Sertab's case, picture a Turkish woman, 4 bellydances, a human maypole and suggestions of being a lesbian dominatrix. while singing.

I do genuinely like “Volare”, “Poupée de cire”, “Eres tú” and “Diva”. But I honestly like “Waterloo” the most.

And it’s not even my favourite ABBA song. What does that say about the others?

I remember exactly the performance and with the description above (you forgot the audience getting absolutely mad ;-) I have to change my vote now: bye bye ABBA, hello SERTAB!
