I’ll let
querrelle recount things in more detail, but let’s just say that our weekend trip to NY was intense, stressful, heartwarming and moving. In most every respect it exceeded my expectations. And
querrelle, having experienced Planet Egan for himself, knows that most of my descriptions of the family are not hyperbole. He deserves a medal for keeping pace with The Madness That Is Us.
One of the many highlights was when Nanny--who’s deaf as a doorknob at 98 years of age--started speaking to me as gaelige, to everyone’s amazement. And for the most part I understood her and replied in kind. Pretty goddamn fuckin’ magical: I only wish I’d had learned some before she lost her ears.
Oh and
smiley_kiley I ate about half a dozen bagels, but no pizza. And I said hello to NY faw ya an’ NY sed “where tha fukk izze? Whenze comin’ bakk?”
And happy one year (married) anniversary to
jawnbc and
querrelle! We had a lovely dinner!
