No one sleeps
Oct. 26th, 2005 11:00 amLast night I went to Turandot with my pal Noel. It’s only my 3rd opera, and while I’ve not become an instant opera kween (”just add water!”), I enjoyed it thoroughly. Though we were chuckling about the esthetics of 140kg mesmerizingly beautiful princesses. We get our knickers in a knot about modes and actresses that jeopardize their health through starvation--where’s the outcry for the obesity epidemic in opera? And a lot of the males weren’t exactly svelte.
D’oh! Guess I just lost my bear membership card. How hegemonic of me! ;)
In other news, our $30 DVD player went on the fritz the day I finally received the 50th anniversary Eurovision DVD set. Maudit estie calîsse tabarnak! But I found a good (LG 530A) inexpensive DVD player for $80 bucks. When I got home with it
querrelle advised that the cheapo DVD player was off the fritz (i.e. working) again. I’ve watched a couple of performances, but I do have work to do today....
Oh, and I’m all ocular again: wearing glasses for the first time in 10 years. I’m now officially nearsighted and have astigmatism.
Tonight it’s the aquafit, followed by (oh please oh please) sodomy!
