A very happy Australia Day to my mates down under! You rock!

We are one, but we are many. And from all the lands on earth we come. We share a dream, and sing with one voice. I am, you are, we are Australian.

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oy! Oy! Oy!

and I miss you and the place more than you might expect....shhh!

Ah, bless you. A hot day expected in Melbourne (38 deg) today which will see me spend the day with drawn curtains and air con on. A nice family day with Rog and the kittys in fact.

I'm proud to be an Australian, even if the government embarrasses me from time to time. Happy Australia Day back to you and to all other Australians here.

Does any thinking person not have internal conflict over their nation's day of celebration?

I'm spending today packing for Canada where I will be in a little over a week. And also listening to the jjj hot 100, which is great. Vancouver radio is crap - except for CBC for talk.

Tassie is a very comfortable 23 degrees but I'm heading to Sydney on Saturday and not looking forward to the heat and humidity at all.

I am however looking forward to meeting you soon. :)

For a bunch of convicts you haven't done too badly - shame about your government though.

Happy Australia Day from NZ ;-)

I suppose Oz seems a bit better than it did three months ago. The rednecks haven't taken over completely.

Look after yourself, and maybe I'll get to visit Van or you'll visit Sydney sometime and we can get to know each other in person.

internal conflict....
i just feel sad that they celebrate "australia day" on this day. why couldn't it be a day which is not the anniversary of invasion? :-(
a quiet and thoughtful day here in our home.

Surprisingly, that sort of nationalism actually sounds cute coming from you. Too bad back here the kinda guys who chant "Aussie Aussie Aussie" tend to be wearing Australian flag scarves (free with your Daily Telegraph), chanting on the corner of a street with a little much beer on their minds...

Australia Day this year was Tacky. With a capital "T". It seemed like they had to make up for being such bogans at Cronulla, by showing all of Australia that "hey - you too non-white boy can be as good a bogan as the rest of us Aussies". Yay for equality...
