So today was supposed to be take the snowboard boots back that don't fit day. Except I knew that if the store knew I had ridden on them--even a handful of short runs, which is what I did, they'd say tant pis.

The only I'd get to exchange them there would be to lie. So I cleaned them up, repackaged them, got my receipts, and then gave them a call. "Hello, I picked up a pair of boots on Sunday and it turns out they're too small." "Have you ridden on them?" "No, just had them on around the house." "If you've not ridden on them, we'll exchange them for other stock, no problem."

And then I sat there. And then I admitted that I couldn't do it, I couldn't lie.

Now, I'm not claiming I never lie. I do, but not often. Pretty much all my lies fall into the category of "none of your fucking business." But in this instance I didn't do my bit: I didn't make sure the boots fit properly because I left the shop. Not the shop's fault, mine.

I feel better. $120 (plus hyper Canadian taxes) is a small price for integrity. And I've now got a properly fitting $50 pair of boots--anyone wanna buy a kewl pair of (men's size 9) pair of snowboard boots?

Funny you should ask.

I'd be quite interested, if I were there rather than here.

I don't snowboard, though. Might make owning a pair of snowboarding boots...problematic...unless I take up snowboarding, but seeing as though my coordination makes walking difficult, snowboarding might be a frustrating proposition.

Integrity. A good quality.

Winter is coming, but we don't get snow here in Auckland, sorry .

It never does that when it knows you're watching - you've got to turn your back and pretend you're not paying it any attention.

And I just went to the supermarket... and I bought some macadamia nuts, and I ate some of them before I got to the counter. After your example of integrity, I feel so low...
