1. Life grants you 50 years more than your current entitlement. What new concrete thing would you set out to learn?
Certainly learning a language....my fancy lately is Portuguese, which is the 6th most commonly spoken language in the world. But the sound of it's always grabbed my ear.
2. Tell me in a paragraph what is the most gorgeous photograph that the camera just wouldn’t capture?
Drive up the logging road just south of Whistler (BC), the road winds along precipitous drop-offs. Trees grow of sheer slopes, reaching towards an azure sky, becoming spindlier, then shorter, then they disappear. Where the scree begins, a blanket of green lies below; across the lunar barrens Black Tusk juts out, massive and dark. Deceptive in both distance and terrain, a brief walk is really an hour's scamper--fatiguingly so. But as you come to the edge of the scree, it appears: a crystalline field of sapphire, sparkles in the sun, wrapped in pristine verdant alpine meadows. Garibaldi Lake, an idyll that covers a sleeping giant: the volcano Garibaldi.
3. You have been appointed Sir Knight, to fight for the Saxons against the Normans in a jousting tournament. What emblem do you bear on your shield, and what color is the ribbon on your horse?
No “non-violent” easy ways out permitted :).
The emblem is of an Irish wolfhound: passionate, loyal, tenacious, gentle with kin. My ribbon is green, of nature, gawd and Eire.
4. You may return to one cafe for one moment of your life, for ten minutes. What cafe are you in, and what friends join you there?
Delany's on Denman, and everyone I've ever loved is there. Hundreds!
5. Your job in Heaven, it appears, is to instruct beginners in art. You have divine skills, needless to say. But what would you teach them so that they might really see what beauty means?
To see that which is perfect in every person: their true and pure selves
