Toronto take 2: Intl AIDS Conference

Ooh, some good news. I got a partial scholarship for the upcoming International Conference on AIDS. The Conference runs 13-18 August in Toronto.

Aside from me and ruralrob, who else will be there?

There's also a satellite meeting on queer men's health 11 and 12 August; not sure yet if the scholarship will cover those extra days. It would cost a couple extra nights' accommodation; since that's in a dormitory they might say yes.

So excited--these are incredible events!

Remote possibility that I might volunteer for the thing (though that'd require having the presence of mind to actually get off my ass and register to volunteer, which I can't guarantee given the way the threat of bureaucratic process immobilizes me of late), but unfortunately I'm not academically qualified to be a participant...

Rumour has it that there is a big ass opening concert at the Rogers Centre on the sunday night with big as names to be confirmed. Conference attendees get in free.

Looks like Meirion will be at the conference too, as a volunteer, so you get two Nanookvillians for the price of one. We'll be staying at the swanky as all get out One King West hotel - honest - only becasue most medium priced accomodation is all snapped up - and the AIDS Bureau kind of goofed.

Excellent! Susan Agluklark headlines the Vancouver 96 shindig...and might well have sold more CDs that day than she had in Canada the whole year previous. :)

I'll be at a still-unnamed university (please U of T and not York), with the masses. Which will be good fun if not restful.
