NDP Pride Brunch this morning

First, the biggest highlight: meeting [livejournal.com profile] chen_tokuryu live, in-person. He said a few (eloquent) words on behalf of his riding association (Vancouver-Kingsway) as well.

Vancouver-Burrard, our provincial riding association, organizes a Pride Brunch fundraiser each year. This year the federal leader Jack Layton came to speak and conduct an auction. [livejournal.com profile] querrelle came along and none of the socialists bit him. The event was on the verandah at the Coast Plaza Stanley Park, on a gorgeous sunny August Vancouver day. Good food, good crowd, and money was raised. Pictures can be found here.

Among those pictures are some from our recent fireworks cruise. How's this for a photo:

I know, I'm a lucky man. And here's Jack working his magic on us all:

(shame about the hat. And the baggy Wrangler jeans)

Jack's assistants for the auction included Pussy Willow. Who broke a heal doing a cartwheel for a $200 donation to the cause.

A good start to Pride weekend.

What did you decide to wear?

Did you read the helpful suggestion I left over on my blog?

It was a very delightful surprise when I saw you and your husband there.

I guess we won't know about your marching plans until tomorrow morning? :-P

Hurrah! See you then.

Fuck the long trip home from the fireworks, grrr... :P

Jack Layton used to mc the fund-raising auction for Buddies in Bad Times in Toronto. The highlight was always the last item, when he would auction the shirt off his back (he was quite hairy, and in great shape). Maybe he could be nudged into auctioning those baggy jeans next time. Or the hat.

You seem to have good taste in men.

As do your various husbands.
