...but the recent increase in hurricane activity in the North Atlantic basin is most likely not a result of global warming--it's part of natural storm cycles in the basin.

Not that global warming isn't a real problem. It is. But let's stick to the (mountainous) credible evidence, lest the eejits of the world jump all over your entire argument because of this one specious bit.
