jawnbcRemember when you were a teenager and your parents seemed to be trying to humiliate you at every turn?
Well I think Ma's doing it again. Sunday it looked hopeless.
Monday she was a bit better, but it still looked really bad.
Tuesday she was in bad shape after the shitty night nurse withheld her sleep medicine.
Today she sat up for 2.5 hours in a chair, and was breathing without the machines for 2 hours.
And she also consented to the tracheostomy. Turns out her upper respiratory tract is so enflamed, they're afraid to take the hose out in fear of it closing. When they told her she'd have an easier time getting off the vent, she signed on the dotted line. Surgery sometime tomorrow.
Had a long (hour) chat with Kath about it all. We agreed she should keep fighting for her, not for us. But if we tried to articulate that to her, she'd only here "we wish you'd die already." So instead we cheer her on.
However this has all weighed heavily on me all week. Which is why I've contacted no one in Toronto about socializing. I'm just too fragile...but if you see me, grab and don't ask how she is...
