jawnbcYesterday I took some time to have another whack at the old apartment: all that was left to do was some dumping, clean the stove and kitchen floor and hoover everything. Simple comme bonjour, non?
I spread the oven and took apart the top bits to soak 'em. Then I took a shiteload of carboard to the recycling. I gave the oven a probing scrape and was pleasantly suprised to find that the really heavy goop was ready to wipe free. So peuple à genoux and started wiping/scrubbing. Looking good! I then pulled the stove out and cleaned behind and around it, as well as its sides. The top bits, however, weren't cooperating. I spent an hour scrubbing them and finally got them in decent shape. But there are all sorts of edged on the damned things,
Today my hands are covered in blisters and small cuts. Taking a bath hurt, typing hurts, opening and closing my hand hurts. This is the opposite of happy.
In other news, ice skating class went well last night. I learnt how to stop whilst skating backwards. I'm something of a freak because I prefer backwards to forwards, including (as it turns out) stopping. However 4 other people showed up with the same (new recreational) skates as me. And since they were all women, my gender cover has been blown.
