In many ways I took to being Canadian like a duck loon to water. But not everything.

The whole Grey Cup thing? Meh. Tomorrow I dunno what I'll be doing...but it won't be watching footie.

Hockey? I get that. Curling? Love it. Figure skating? I can totally critique a salkow even though I can even skate steadily on one foot. The CFL escapes me.

I think they will let you keep your citizenship just based on the love of curling alone. (I am a keen fan of curling)

My pseudo-canadian confession is that I think Justin Trudeau is kinda cute. It is the hair.

He did his teaching diploma at UBC a few years back. I was hanging with a friend who'd grown up in Ottawa and this geeky looking guy comes up to her and says "Is your name L?"

"Justin? Is that you?"

"Hey how are you" blah blah blah

About 10 minutes later I twigged. "Was that Justin Trudeau?"

"Yeah. We went to elementary school together in Ottawa."

"Were you friends?"

"Oh sure, we played together and stuff."

"Did you ever..."

"uh, yeah, sometimes at his house." *blush*

As in 24 Sussex Drive...the Prime Minister's muthafuckin' house. Dayum!

I am pretty sure I will never understand curling.

While I was stopped at a red traffic light the other night, a guy crossing the street zagged over to the open window of my truck and said something that sounded to me like "The blahblah Leafs blah blah third quarter blah goal blah orange doid blahbitty triple hat trick high stick blah". I smiled, nodded, and said "Oh, uh-huh!", but had absolutely zero idea what he'd said or meant.

Well, see, it depends. If you don't get the CFL but would watch the Super Bowl, then we'll have to revoke your citizenship; if you just don't care about football in general, then we might look at you funny but you'll be allowed to stick around.

Just kidding. I don't actually give a rat's ass about football, either.

Though I did have to explain to somebody today why the Gay, er, Grey Cup game isn't actually in the city either of the competing teams come from.

I watched a bit of the Super Bowl perhaps twice when a small child. Bits.

Which is also held in a city pre-determined, rather than either of the competing teams. Unless it's changed recently.
