2006

I'm not inclined to write an exhaustive, blow-by-blow synopsis of 2006 for me. But it's been an eventful year. Highlights included:

-ringing in the New Year in Montreal
-travel to Ottawa to possible find a government policy job (I didn't, which is fine)
-getting to NY to see Ma twice (once in hospital)
-Ma getting out of hospital for Christmas
-teaching
-realizing I was depressed and finding a treatment to ameliorate said depression
-learning I could land a tenure-track job. Just need the right one know ;)
-buying a home
-Sydney and Auckland (and mynumber1!)
-dipping my toes into political work

My marriage is strong, my health is good--arguably better than what I started with in January--and I have a great deal of love in my life. I live in a beautiful, secure, safe city and country, where my family is a real, legal family. Food is plentiful, as are potable water and clean air.

I don't make resolutions this time of year. I prefer instead to resolve to change as it becomes apparent that change is required (carpe diem). I don't claim those processes are always linear, or simple, or even wholly successful. I would like to continue to improve my self care in 2007.
