Surely both forms of research, and the varying syntheses of the two positions, have their legitimate place in any researcher's toolkit? Does anyone really take such an extreme position?

some activists, sure. We travel in male, largely affluent community spheres: think of community with fewer resources and capital in all its forms.

But mostly I tear a strip off university-based researchers--mostly positivist wankers--who merely call their work CBR. And it's fucking not.
