Originally from Belgium (in fact, from Flanders, the Dutch speaking part, though Lara grew up speaking Italian at home), Lara Fabian first made an impact as a teenager. The same year Céline won the Eurovision for Switzerland, Lara finished a respectable 4th singing «Croire» for Luxembourg. Shortly thereafter she moved to Canada, where her career really took off.
Today she remains a popular singer throughout la francophonie. And unlike Céline she writes songs as well. Here's another clip, this time a duet with another Canadian, Isabelle Boulay: «il y a»
