Today was Pride here in BC. However I awoke feeling achy and sore-throated...but an extended lie-in, some aspirin, and the love of a good man (and the love of a proper fry-up for brekkie...in bed!) put me on the mend.

Funny thing is, even when the Vancouver Pride parade was only 30 entries it still seemed unable to keep moving. Today there were probably a dozen 5 solid minute pauses while a group restarted its music, or someone fawned over someone in the crowd. With like a gazillion groups in the thing today, they really do need to the move the goddamned muthafuckin thing along,k?

After 2 hours we bailed down to the festival sight on Sunset Beach. Gorgeous warm (24C by the sea, I'd guess) sunny day for it. I grabbed what free booty was on offer, we schmoozed, we socialized, we left. And now recharging the batteries in advance of the leather cruise to Indian Arm this evening. Really looking forward to a combo of: a.) hawt men; b.) leather; c.) roast dinner; and d.) gorgeous scenery.

I'm 43 and being queer seems so...unremarkable most of the time. But Pride isn't about me, it's about us. And I saw so, so many for whom the day is both remarkable and transformative.

We're here, we're queer, and we're sunburnt! Get used to it!
