Sep. 10th, 2007 06:38 pmWell that fucking sucked.
EejitWoman blows a red light by about 3 seconds...just as I enter the intersection on my hog scooter. I saw her in enough time to reduce our impact somewhat, but she still caught my front wheel and I still went down.
I'm fine--not a scratch, in fact. The bike has lots of scratches, rattles and won't turn over. It's now in the custody of ICBC. To her credit she fully admits she ran the light and someone stopped and gave me his card as a witness.
Being bikeless for several weeks will suck hard though.

Date: 2007-09-11 01:46 am (UTC)I am all for red-light cameras. They are everywhere in the UK, and the statistics of reduced collisions is mind-boggling.
Hope you get your bike back soon.
Hugs

Date: 2007-09-11 06:23 am (UTC)I credit your natural grace and skating balance for your scratchless state. Glad you're unscathed; the scoot can be repaired. Maybe by someone like this icon...

Date: 2007-09-11 06:45 am (UTC)Was this in Vancouver? After driving there for a couple days last month, I'm totally not surprised. It's especially fun when the person you're trying to follow decides to gun it through a yellow, leaving you to gun it through the... uh... orange, only the person turning left has the same idea. Avoided a collision, at least.
