jawnbc It seems every year there's a song that gets a lot of fans all "ZOMG this is gonna win!!!! Squeeee!!!!!" In 2004 it was Serbia and Montenegro (close, but no) and Ukraine (yes). In 2007 it was Serbia again (yes). And so it seems this year it's Alexander Ryback and "Fairytale." We'll just put the annual Greek diaspora's annual "we're gonna win [insert name here] is the best!" I mean, they were right once.
He is, no doubt, very talented. But I'll be gobsmacked if he wins this thing--with or without juries. Here's why:
- All the above were great singers. He.Is.Not.
- All the above, in their own way, looked great. He.Looks.Nerdy.
- All the above had great songs. Fairytale isn't.
Will it do well? Probably. It is well performed and it stands out by a mile. People will stomp along to the fiddle riffs. But I don't think they'll be inspired to vote massively for it across Europe.
On another topic, Bulgaria why why why why didn't you send Vrag? What's with the castrati?
