Eurovision 2009: Eesti! Eesti! Eesti!
Mar. 7th, 2009 05:29 pmI am so pleased with Estonia this year. After sending a piece of shite piss-take last year, they really shook things up for their annual ESC national final. They hired someone young and cluey and fab to organize it. Then they selected 10 very different and interesting songs. Of these only 2 weren't performed well during today's live final. That's pretty good for a small country. That's better than the big 4 have managed in over a decade!
In the end it came down to a great rock/pop song and something unique. And unique won! Mesdames et messieurs, je vous présente Urban Symphony et Rändajad:
Already this is one of my favourite Estonian entries. In fact, it reminds of my favourite of all time Evelin Samuel's Diamond of Night:
I think this will sail into the final and into the top 10.

(The swirling camera movements are a bit disconcerting though!)

This is the first time in a LONG time that I'm rooting for Estonia, and this is one of my fave tunes in the whole competition.
