en famille
Apr. 11th, 2009 09:26 pmI'm sitting on a style Chesterfield sofa Mary, where we once sat side by side....
Or not. But I am on the sofa in the living room, opposite the ginormous (and off) TV. It's been a really nice day, with some of the people I love most in the world around me. All getting on well too. This pleases me to no end. Ma has expressed her happiness at our--our--being there. Da and
querrelle are getting one well. Of course they understand perhaps 25% of what he says, thanks to the accent...
We had a leisurely morning, then
querrelle and I took a meandering drive through these "mountains." I don't mean to sound derisive, but 500m are hills. There are a number of ski hills in the Poconos, though the vertical of the highest is just barely 1000ft. Still, the drive was nice and it was lovely just to be. Of course we still got slightly lost; n'importe.
Dinner was at the Powerhouse: a converted....powerhouse...that has lovely decor and a great menu. Ma went for lobster tail, me for surf-n-turf, Da for baby cow,
querrelle for lobster and crab cakes. The tails were huge and I really enjoyed my food. It did seem to give me the trots though. We came home afterwards, hung out a bit, then the 'rents adjourned for bed time.
There is some disquiet in the extended family regarding Nanny's will. That saddens me--doesn't surprise me, but saddens me. I took the opportunity to encourage my parents to spend their money before they die. "Have someone come in every morning and give you foot massages, if that's what it takes to liquidate your assets before you die" I told Ma. She laughed.
It's been lovely seeing her laugh. Just...lovely.
I"m glad we came too Ma.
