I would rather been flat out sick than merely unwell. When I'm knocked on my arse (like yesterday) there's no requirement to ascertain how much and what sorts of work I should attempt. Today I'm feeling better enough to have to do that. And I suck at it. Why people allege I'm too black-and-white about things is beyond me...

Ted Kennedy: did a lot of great things, but also represented the perversity of power and privilege. Like all his ilk. Benevolent hegemony is still hegemony, and political dynasties are unhealthy for democracy. Their populist appeal even more so.

Despite no longer ostensibly being a wanker an academic, I've got a few things still in the pipe. A book chapter is coming out imminently and I expect the galleys for another in a few weeks. I've also been asked to write one by the end of September.  All this as so inspired me I'm going to get those pesky interviews from my 3rd post-doc (a pilot study on how mentorship operates in a research training programme) transcribed and the data written up. There's a nice article in there for certain.

Several of my family members are of the social networking=facebook school of things. Being a hyper-kewl tweeter/blogger/ninger/wikier myself it's a bit funny. But I'm enjoying the banter...though taxe29  and my's goading one another doesn't always come across as humourous to others. Wot.Eva.

Y'know, I signed up for this, with the idea of using it, but I don't really know where to start. Do yuo have any suggestions on some interesting people to follow, so that I can get a glimmer of understanding?

mostly I follow colleagues. But I also follow feeds for some organizations too. Not anyone famous though.
