As Jawn BC awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed into a giant dung beetle.
Or not.
It's been a week now since I had to depart Sydney and the lovely
querrelle. From agonizing pain, to numbness, to weepy, to wistful, to grateful (for the web and video conferencing), it's been a learning experience. But less and less a survival one. We'll get through, it's only 4 months.
Well, not true actually. About 4 days before I left Sydney, I told Max that I couldn't do it. 4 months would kill me; just the last few days were already alternately heartbreaking and heartful. So I made a unilateral decision.
October. I'll come back in October.
You see, I am teaching in a specific program at UBC that includes a break during the last 2 weeks of October. When I prepared my course outlines in mid July, I made sure to maximize that break. Effectively I am off 18 October-02 November.
So I looked around and found a good fare (CA$1572,incl tax), and booked. I will arrive early on Sunday 19 October, via SF. Depending on how much nookie we get in, we may even hit The Shift to sing and whoop it up.
Or mebbe not...but we'll be together!!!!!!! Woo hoo!

Just my two cents and a lot of empathy. It will be only 4 months and, in the end, you guys will be better for the experience.
