it's the only dream I ever seem to remember

It's a big project. We (a group of activists, queer and not, white and not, affluent and not) have finally convinced The Powers That Be that only a solution from the homeless themselves will work. We get scads of money, there's consultations galore, and the strategy is to create a homeland for the homeless. A date is picked for ________, when resettlement begins.

The planes will arrive and depart from across North America, all going to _________, the nearest airport. On the morning of departure, thousands are watching here at Vancouver International, as the first plane--a super jumbo that holds 5,000 passengers--loads up, taxis and takes off. How exciting!

The plane does several fly-overs, circles the airfield, and as it pulls up into its flight path over south Richmond, the plane very quietly and seemingly gentily falls to the ground. No noise, but a huge plume of smoke.

Most of the spectators react in horror and run to see if there are any survivors to be helped. But all the public officials are just standing there, barely suppressing their smiles.

Hmmm....

For some reason this reminded me of "V".

It was a mini series (TV) about aliens. They were reptilian but had false human "skins" and were harvesting the Earth's resources. None of this really explains why it came to mind....but then I have n idea why it did.

Yes. "V". Also the Government of Ontario a few years ago. And Alberta. *shudder*

If you put all The Powers That Be and public officials on the plane, I think this could work. *wink*

Are you afraid that you don't do enough to help, that you make token efforts but that deep down you would be relieved if you felt you didn't have to? Just a thought. Your dream seemed familiar to me.

I was thinking afterwards how horrible it is to be alone in a crowd, against the current theme of thought.

My Vote

You got my vote on this idea. Only if you promise to arrange the same type of thing for S.F.

My only fear is that like cockroaches they would survive anything. And it creates this image of after the plane crashes to the ground with them walking through debris and a wall of flames and smoke with cinged clothing still smoking with their hand out. "Hey Man. you got any change"

OMG.

Are you joking? Have you ever had to spend an entire night outside in the winter?

Eh. He lives in California. How cold could it be? *shrug* Some people just don't get it.

what's sad is it doesn't sound like it couldn't happen :-(
