Wrote the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series. Scarily brilliant, funny, evocative writer. Cute too. Died a couple of years ago.

Oh yeah, him.

I'll probably be regarded by some as a heretic and by some for this, but I didn't find "Hitchhiker's Guide" particularly brilliant. To me, it certainly had its amusing moments, but on the whole -- like others of its genre -- it seemed overcooked and grew tiresome.
