bon yieu donne moi un job
Feb. 8th, 2004 01:23 pmFeast or famine: from virtually no job prospects, there are 3 on the horizon. One under negotiation, two to apply for. Dotting i’s crossing t’s fingers cracked. Etc.
This past fortnight has been about finding (rather than Shaking) My Groove thing. As in finding my own niche here in Sydney, in addition to all the quality
querrelle time. I’ve started volunteering for the Mardi Gras, helping my mate Steve with volunteer management stuff. Friday was the seasonal launch in Hyde Park; I was Volunteer T-Shirt Guard (back off--get away from my table!), though perhaps the highlight was my cameo appearance as Purple Flag Person #3.
Part of the opening included monocoloured triangular flags (on 3m bamboo poles), with 2 of each colour of the Pride Flag (total 12 flagsters). Strangely there were 4 purples and no blues, so 4 purple people it was. We all went to different points on the perimeter of the park, slowly worked towards the stage--waving and smiling proudly--until we gathered in front of the women’s drumming group. We then waved as we went off stage right, and I returned to my Guarding detail. By the time I got up to the Oxford,
querrelle had already been made aware of my minor celebrity status from the launch.
Geez, the greeting he gave me when I got there, I felt so truly loved. Truly. Loved.
I’d been out since 09h30 (meetings, then beach, then launch then whooping it up on Oxford St.) and our 00h30 arrival home was the end of my tether. I shuffled to bed,
querrelle and very nearly fell asleep when Max was amorous. Saturday morning I felt like a truck had run me over. I loafed, then we had brunch in Erskineville, and I left in search of a grill pan (I WILL make the perfect steak. Someday). Coffee with Steve, then home for nesting. DVD, non-falling-asleep nookie, good communication sotto voce and contented, if too brief, sleep.
And I spied
mommybabou on her webcam today. Ma Babou elle n’est pas une baboue, elle est belle.
