In honour of my first real job in 6+ years (no more “working at home” dammit), I acquired this little beauty yesterday:

Except mine’s black!

The Peugeot Elyseo 125 is a 125cc automatic scooter, with water-cooled engine, dual disc brakes and a great big under-the-saddle- storage space. It gets up to 100kph, and can accelerate in city traffic quite easily. I’ve loved my 50cc bikes (first a Yamaha, then a Suzuki, most recently a Piaggio Zip), but increased “load” (I’ve gained 15kg in the last 5 years) and more aggressive traffic conditions (Sydney versus Vancouver) make a bike that only hits 60kph (on a flat; 25-30k uphill) untenable.

Next week I take my 2-day intro to biking course, which yields a learner’s license. I’ll book my road test for 3 months time (the earlier possible) and then she’ll be right mate!

Sharp! M and I were looking at one similar to yours the other day and she mentioned it might be fun for me since I commute downtown (a big 10 to 15 minute jaunt) every day for my walk rounds. I thought about it but then, I'd miss my Mini! It does look just as fun, though (unless it rains, of course!).
