It seems earlier this year several youth leaders in the Parti Québécois travelled the province, running focus groups with youth in 25 towns and cities. The results of their work--commissioned by the PQ (the sovereignty/separatist party in Québec)--was tabled in June but with little fanfare. Most likely because it indicates that for many Québec youth--even those who endorse the idea of a Québec nation--don't see sovereignty as very important.
Globalization, the environment, and sustainable economic development were their main concerns. When support for sovereignty was expressed, their disillusionment with PQ leadership was strong. Most participants--sovereigntist or not--wanted more specific information about the economic, political and structural realities of a Yes vote.
