I am currently blogging from 35,000 feet above Greenland. How friggin’ kewl izzat?????[livejournal.com profile] querrelle and I are flying London-Frankfurt-Vancouver.

My travels to London eventually ended. I left our place in Sydney (GMT +8) at 1400 on 01 October. I arrived in Bangkok (GMT +5) at 0700 02 October. I arrived in London at 1830 on 02 October: we arrived at our host Mike’s place at 2030. So I was travelling for almost precisely 38 hours. My bags, however, arrived another 36 hours later. We did the only sensible thing...we went dancing!

Sunday I met Max’s parents for a late lunch. We got on fine, and Max was quite relieved--several strong personalities, relatively small space. We came home and I passed out at 1830...and got up the next morning around 0700.

Monday We waited for my bag to arrive, then went and had lunch with the ‘rents again. Then we were off into the city proper for some shopping and to meet the Christies crowd for drinks. By 6pm we were both fried, but the crowd were lovely and we stayed ‘til past 8. Fish n chips for tea (fish for him, chips for me), a brief chat with our host Mike (he’s coming to Vancouver for the wedding), then packing and bed time.

Tuesday we were up at 0500 and out the door within half an hour. Drive to airport was fine; finding the car hire place a bit more complex. But we were spare any major drama, checked in, hit the Lufthansa lounge and waited for our flight to Frankfurt. I’ll tell you, after so many 9+ hour flights in the last year, an hour between LHR and FRA ain’t no big thing. We were a bit late, but still had time to find the next Lufthansa lounge and imbibe free drinks and snacks.

Security for Air Canada flights (mostly to reduce the # of refugee applicants) is serious, so we headed to the gate a bit early. As we joined the queue they called my name to the podium--we got upgraded to business class on the FRA-YVR flight (yay Aeroplan Gold!), so his nibs is snoozing in the brand spanking new sleeper seat on an airbus 340-600. It’s like a pre-wedding mini-honeymoon!

We’ve hired a car for Hongcouver; once we pick that up we’ll head to [livejournal.com profile] toneyvr’s, shower, grab dinner with the girls and try to stay awake until about 9pm. Tomorrow is running around day.

The travel sounds exhausting but the destinations are magical.

I know all this is happening very quickly but, I would like to be there. Unfortunately, I won't. I'm actually jealous in a way because we haven't met face-to-face. I'm still waiting and hoping for that time to arrive. Give Max a big {{{hug}}} from me too. :-Þ
