Based on figures from the Government of Canada site, CBC, and various other sources, here's a quick summary of Canadian donations to tsunami relief:

Government of Canada: $80 million
Provincial & Territorial Goverments: $18.5 million
Canadian public: $65 million

Total: $163.5 million Population of Canada: 32 million

That's about $5 per woman, man and child.

Je suis canadien et j'en suis fièr!

That's donations pledged. All nations fail to live up to their pledges... ask the UN.

The point being that what is pledged and what is actually sent for relief is usually far off, unfortunately.

There's this company in the Netherlands that apparantly is going to match any incoming donations for the tsunami and then is going to donate it all at once to giro 555 (which is the Dutch account created for the tsunami victims). Goodness still exists in this world.
