Despite feeling, in a broad sense, that Gawd has two fingers up my nostrils and is dragging through this chock-a-block week, last evening was lovely.

[livejournal.com profile] querrelle, our pal Marko (we have many Marc/k/s in our life; this is the Greekish one) and I went to dinner at Battuta, then down to the Starlight Cinema in The Domain. [livejournal.com profile] querrelle gives a detailed write up about the film, Almodovar's La Mala Educación here. Suffice to say it's a great film on pretty much every level. And the more I see of Gael García Bernal, the more impressed I am. Perhaps the greatest actor of his generation?

As we were leaving, I developed grumbly bumbly. At our intermediate stop of Taylor Square--Marko was going for a drink, we were getting our bikes to head home--I had to suffer the indignities of the 'loo in the Oxford Hotel bar. It had to be done. We then headed home, where I took an anti-nausea (was feeling pukey by then), and a few more visits à la toilette.

I called in sick to work, but then felt much better after a couple hours' more sleep. So I'm at my desk, ready to dive in.

But really, if you've not seen Bad Education, go. Now!
