My letter to the Sydney Star Observer...
Jul. 28th, 2005 06:16 pm... based on this:
Dear David Scammell & Julie McConnell,
When anyone, ANYONE in Australia presents an argument to deny something to persons because of their sexual orientation, your job is to challenge it. Period. Including marriage. But until you clearly, LOUDLY state that the gay marriage ban is homophobic and that the GLRL supports any political movement to challenge homophobia, you’re abdicating your responsibilities. And whenever you argue in public against other groups who are aggressively challenging homophobia, you’re doing something much worse: enabling the John Howard and Kim Beazley’s of Australia.
Why on earth can’t the GLRL quietly support AME and the upcoming rally?
Sincerly,
John Egan
