Years ago I read how one man deals with feeling blue. On a bad hair day (no cracks about a lack of hair--it's mostly migrated from my head to my back, thanks very much), his days started with:
-get out of bed
-brush teeth
-bathe
-eat
Blah blah blah--you get the idea. For him, one way of mitigating his melancholy was to instead:
-GET OUT OF BED!!!!
-BRUSH! TEETH!
-BATHE!!!
-EAT!!!
With upper case and exclamation points demarcating enthusiasm and vitality. In other words, gear the self up and the spirit will often keep pace...or at least not dawdle too far behind. So while I've not been tap dancing through my day, I did manage to hoof it through most of the list. And am currently grazing on some celery stalks, contemplating my day. I'd also add "put on some energizing, smile-inspiring music" to the list. Hence Everything But the Girl's Best...more about the music than the lyrics, that Tracey Thorn sure can be dour.
Last night was Shift night, and a good time was had by several (if not all). They played the original video of ABBA singing Waterloo at the Eurovision contest in 1974--fantastic! Davie and the rest were ready to whoop it up and whoop it up we did. I did get to chat with a gorgeous guy I've seen out and about before; Dave thinks he fancies me, I cant' tell. Aside from being handsome, he's also a teacher, so we had a fair bit to chat about. Including roller rinks of years gone by, strangely enough. I would so choose him for the Ladies Choice skate. *wipes drool from chin*
