Vancouver, c'est ma ville!
Sep. 5th, 2005 09:10 amWe’re moving out of the so much shit to do phase and into the settling/nesting one. To be followed shortly by the having a life one. J’espere.
We’ve got something of a living room set up: Chesterfield that converts to a double bed (muthafukka or some such thing from IKEA), which is our bed until tomorrow. Tomorrow Sleep Country Canada delivers our new bed. We’ve acquitted the kitchen with dishes, glasses, pots and pans, small appliances; we’ll get the microwave today, and do a proper grocery shop.
The stress levels involved in an international move are very high. In our case they’ve been exacerbated by Brenda’s death and a rather upsetting visit with
querrelle’s ‘rents in Andorra. But we’re working through and over stuff. And latching onto the incredible quality and privilege of our lives. Not to deny the emotional costs of all this, but to keep it in perspective. And the nookie train is getting back on track...heh heh.
Yesterday we did more shopping (Canadian Tire), then I helped Noel and Jocelyne set up their new iMac and home wireless network. When I rejoined
querrelle, we headed towards Stanley Park (hot cocoas in hand) to enjoy nature. Water fowl, squirrels, a chipmunk (Max’s first one!), lots of green space, and a stroll home on the seawall a bit before sunset. He made us a nummy nummy beef stew while we watched a Little Britain marathon on BBC Canada.
And a solid, restful night’s sleep. Tomorrow I start work, and I’m excited!
