So what do we have left? First, a piece of Scandi-pop that launched one of the biggest musical careers of all time. Then we've got perhaps the most controversial act ever, who can claim to be the first "people's choice" thanks to televoting. And finally a post-modern pastiche that, like nearly every original ESC winner, barely squeaked out a victory.

Okay, now I'm surprised. I was sure it would turn into a battle between Volare and Waterloo. My faith in the universe has just been shattered.

“One of these things is not like the other, one of these things does not belong!”

Can we just fast-forward to the “Waterloo”/“Diva” showdown, already? I’m frankly surprised “Every Way That I Can” has lasted this long. It’s really not in the same league.

Don’t get me wrong, it didn’t suck...though it was another one of those songs like “Wild Dances” where the performance/performer is far more memorable than the actual tune. It’s decent enough pop disco, definitely better than most of the 2004 crop (which I remember being pretty slim pickins). Certainly far from bad, in any case.

But in the same league as “Waterloo” or “Diva”? No frickin’ way!

it would seem the Sertab vote has collapsed. shame as it was a genuinely good song that came from a country which had produced crap on a regular basis and had one of the best presentations (vocal and dance) in many a Eurovision year.
