May. 24th, 2003 06:02 pmSo tonite's party/gathering is officially an un-Eurovision one. My last attempt to record the contest--by ripping the video webcast--resulted in video with no sound. Granted some of the songs sound better muted, but video only (with a lot of drop frames) just won't cut the mustard.
So it'll be conversation and food and good company. All in all, not a bad Saturday night. But I'm disappointed.
I'm also growing weary of couch surfing, and long for my own space. Yes, even my own IKEA'd Sydney apartment. And a real bed. I am amused by what I miss about Sydney. Which includes, in no terribly symbolic order:
+ Scott
+ Mr. Man, aka Max
+ high-powered electric kettles that boil in 2 minutes
+ Sundays @ Shift
But being in Hongcouver has many perks too, including:
+ da Tonester
+ Noel & Joce
+ PG Tips (I've packed 2 boxes for portaging back to Sydney)
+ poutine
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stay in Sydney past August--it makes sense professionally and personally. Whether I'm there until November or for a couple more years remains to be seen. if it's the latter, I'll probably look at divesting myself of stuff in storage/loaned out here in Hongcouver.
More will be revealed...

Date: 2003-05-24 11:59 pm (UTC)Bon question mon chou...poutine is one of those rare things, a genuinely unique Canadian cuisine without indigenous/Aboriginal roots. Briefly, it's french fries with cheese curds and poutine sauce (kinda, but not really, like gravy).
As hideous as it sounds, it's fantastic.
You stoopid? Nah, perhaps distracted at times--as are most creative folks I know.
