May. 31st, 2006 06:31 pmAfter much reflection and hummin' an' hawin', today was shopping day. Here's what ordered (and will pick up tomorrow):

Aprilia Scarabeo 50, 2005 (new)
I had planned on getting a 50cc just to tide me over, but this one is suprisingly snappy. I had no problems getting it up to 70km. It's by far the smoothest 50cc I've ever driven, and I've driven a lot of them. But to ride a bike requires having a helmet and gloves, so I zipped over to my favourite discount Ma&Pa bike shop and grabbed both. Since returning to BC I've been using my lack of transport as justificatiion for not spending enough time with those I love and like. So you're on notice
toneyvr,
studlybastard,
pythagorarse,
lusty_librarian et al:
jawnbc will be in da 'hood.
*squee*
Also had a good meeting with some colleagues I respect very much in community-based research; some great opportunities for all should be in the offing.
This afternoon 3 of us West Enders burst out in spontaneous conversation (a huge helmet box inspires inquisitiveness or ire on a bus)...and remarked how Vancouverites can be a bit...cold. But once you push through that we're actually lovely. We are, all of us. Lovely that is.

They have it at citybiker.ca on Pender street. I might just continue with my pimped out hybrid bike at put my money into an HDV camera. We'll see...
I look forward to seeing you out on the town again. Do you know about the scooter gang that has coffee on Sundays at Continental Coffee on Commercial Drive?

Date: 2006-06-02 02:16 am (UTC)I looked at electric scooters: they all seem to top out at 30km--too gutless to be safe in Vancouver traffic. Plus living in a rental building means no electricity in the parking garage for recharging...lugging it up and down the stairs sounded like to much work for me.
That scooter gang, are they Vespas? They're pretty insular...
