At some point on Monday evening (hard to remember when; it was still light, which means it could have been between 18h and 20h30), something flew into my right eye. It burned, I blinked, it seemed right.

I woke up Tuesday with my right eye sealed shut by discharge. [livejournal.com profile] querrelle said "ew, a pox upon ye!" Which he thought was pink eye, so I put in some drops, whined about the burning, wiped away the puss, and got on with my day. Later on I had to put more drops in: after each round of drops it seems better, but goes back to being bad. This hasn't changed since Monday, so I'm off to the Dr. at 13h15 to get it looked at.

My job doesn't require the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound. But I need to be able to read (articles, books, my computer screen), and my left eye is lazy. No right eye means no work. And since I've been on a roll and have a looming deadline, this displeases me.

Soften the blow: Check out the hawt-n-kinky [livejournal.com profile] thornyc's excellent call to action on marriage rights here.

Oh, and I got my proposal for the Oriental Society of Australia annual conference in Sydney in December. it's me dipping my toes into the warm waters of post-colonialism, all queer of course (mine, anyway). They will publish the papers in a journal, so it's a double-happiness event for academics.

I hope your eye gets better soon!
