I feel a rush of fiction coming on; saints be praised if I find a series of windows to actually write. But that sense of anticipatory inspiration...well, it's inspiring.
After a couple with him, two sleeps in a row with the man of my dreams feels magical. Lately my libido points more and more towards home, which is nice--even if it means losing my slut card™.
Work is progressing as well. My class this term are awesome: diverse, thoughtful, engaged, bright. Highly probably they will be the best group ever. That this is in a required rudimentary research methods course (with a very negative reputation among students) makes it even better.
Far, far off on the horizon are the shadows of future work. Some of if it's research consultancy (with some great organizations representing constituencies with which I'd be honoured to work); others might mean a whole new job. But these opportunities are far enough away that being ready for them shouldn't be an issue.
The seasons are changing here in Vancouver. We're in the flux between summer and winter, but the dampness and chill seem right. I'm finding a routine for my winter days and look foward to the structure and consistency.
Our Prime Minister is an ideological, Bushrimming arsehole. But he's making that abundantly clear to any Canadian with 2 brain cells. Something started for many good reasons is going terribly awry in Afghanistan. Too many of our soldiers are coming home injured. Or in body bags. That no other NATO nation has had this frequency of personnel deaths means something has to change. If the rest of NATO doesn't step it, that change has to be Canada's withdrawal.
