As opposed to a "big night out".

Last night we met [livejournal.com profile] mynumber1 for drinks and to whoop it up a bit. We started at the Midnight Shift for oldies night. Lots of great tracks, all of us singing along, including 4 Eurovision artists (but not their ESC songs) in a row. But as often happens at the Shift on a Sunday, just as the plays really starts to go off, a self-indulgent drag show brings everything to a screeching halt. As they started the 4th esoteric camp version of an Xmas song, we cleared out.

And went to SLIDE a newish club on Oxford. It's about pop hits (remixed and not), a funky space (current theme chinoise), and friendly staff. And a stylish crowd more likely to have a few cocktails than a fistful of disco biscuits. I ended doing butt dances (on my butt, wiggling, on a settee) because [livejournal.com profile] mynumber1 had been bopping for over an hour before [livejournal.com profile] querrelle arrived.

Wearing a Eurovision Song Contest Athens t-shirt. We had to scrape [livejournal.com profile] mynumber1 off the ceiling, he was so chuffed!

Little Congwong/La Perouse beach today. Coffee with the lovely Pol, then dinner at 41. Then bed and off to the airport for our 09h30 flight. Air NZ doesn't have online check-in? How...90s.

As for Canada-Australia relations? Not much to say: last week I won the lottery, this week I got (nearly) nothin'. Even one of the regulars came up to me and said "where is everyone today?"
